According to a survey by EmailLabs:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>More than half of email recipients <strong>don&#8217;t see images<\/strong> in the preview pane because their companies or email programs block them. Counting on an image to get their attention? Chances are, you won&#8217;t get through.<\/li>\n<li>Three-quarters of email recipients who use a preview pane use it in a horizontal format. That means <strong>they can only see four inches or so of your message<\/strong>. That two- to four-inch space is where horizontal and vertical panes intersect \u2014 and it&#8217;s all you can count on previewers viewing.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Think horizontal<\/strong>. Your second most valuable real estate is the top two to four inches of your message.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Tweet your key message<\/strong>. Most email systems preview the first 50-75 characters of a message. So write your opening sentence as a tweet \u2014 or more like half a tweet, suggests Steve Rubel.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Focus on text, not graphics<\/strong>. Most people don&#8217;t see graphics in the preview pane, so make flags, logos and other images smaller and move them out of the upper-left corner.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Move administrative information<\/strong> to an administrative center at the bottom of the message.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>A world of pane<\/h3>\n<p>In this environment, it&#8217;s important to pay special attention to your <a title=\"&ldquo;from&rdquo; lines\" href=\"https:\/\/revvingupreadership.com\/2022\/09\/email-from-line\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">&#8220;from&#8221; lines<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wyliecomm.com\/writing-tips\/how-to-write-an-email\/email-subject-lines\/email-subject-line-best-practices\/\">subject lines<\/a>. Three out of five email recipients say they consult those to decide whether they&#8217;ll even scan the information in the preview pane \u2014 or just delete it without looking.<\/p>\n<div class=\"excerptbox\" style=\"border:1px solid black;\">&#8220;<strong>The from and subject lines become the top two points of a triangle, with the third point being the top of your newsletter<\/strong>,&#8221; writes Loren McDonald, chief marketing officer of J.L.
