Urgency No. 1.<\/h3>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/returnpath.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/RP-Subject-Line-Report-FINAL.pdf\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">Urgency headed the list of the most effective subject lines approaches<\/a>\u00a0in a study by Return Path, a global data and marketing firm. Return Path analyzed 9 million subject lines sent to 2 million subscribers.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Still time<\/em>\u00a0was the best performing phrase<\/strong>\u00a0in the Return Path study. Some products seem to be perpetually on a limited-time sale. Readers become numb to those repeated urgent offers.<\/p>\n<p>Bottom line: Find words that create a sense of urgency, but that aren\u2019t boring.<\/p>\n<h3>3. I love you,\u00a0<em>Tomorrow<\/em>.<\/h3>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hubspot.com\/sales\/email-open-rates-report\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><em>Tomorrow<\/em>\u00a0increased open rates by 10%<\/a>, found HubSpot in a  survey of 6 million emails. But\u00a0<em>quick<\/em>\u00a0 did not affect opens.<\/p>\n<p>And subject lines including <em>tomorrow<\/em> outperformed those including a day of the week by 31%, according to Worldata Research.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Choose concrete numbers and times<\/strong>:\u00a0<em>Pay last year\u2019s fees for next year\u2019s workshops: Book by 12\/31.<\/em><\/p>\n<h3>4. Be creative.<\/h3>\n<p>Don\u2019t just pick the words on Return Path\u2019s list. I loved a subject line from Carol Tuttle that said <em>This. Is. It. Final day for DYT jewelry!<\/em><\/p>\n<h3>5.\u00a0<em>Urgent<\/em>\u00a0sells.<\/h3>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/blog.mailchimp.com\/subject-line-data-choose-your-words-wisely\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">The words\u00a0<em>urgent, breaking, important<\/em>\u00a0and\u00a0<em>alert<\/em>\u00a0increase open rates<\/a>, according to an analysis by Mail Chimp.
