Kawasaki makes himself a go-to guy with interesting, valuable tweets like these:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Forget the press release <a href=\"http:\/\/sbne.ws\/r\/qvP\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">http:\/\/sbne.ws\/r\/qvP<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Top Twriters: 25 writers to follow on Twitter. <a href=\"http:\/\/adjix.com\/n83r\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">http:\/\/adjix.com\/n83r<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Research on the cause of the gender earnings gap <a href=\"http:\/\/sbne.ws\/r\/qkG\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">http:\/\/sbne.ws\/r\/qkG<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Social media\u2019s 10 commandments http:\/\/is.gd\/vmcKjd<\/li>\n<li>5 tips for power tweeting http:\/\/is.gd\/FoA5J2<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Tweets like these have earned Kawasaki a spot on Hubspot\u2019s Twitter Elite \u2014 tweeters who have the highest power and reach in the Twitter community.<\/p>\n<h3>2. Engage 20%.<\/h3>\n<p>Put the <em>social<\/em> in social media: Connect, converse, ask questions, answer them, respond to people who mention you and generally help out your online connections.<\/p>\n<p>You&#8217;ll find this approach on <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/southwestair\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Southwest Airlines<\/a>&rsquo; Twitter feed. Sample tweets:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Hey everyone, if you have a good winglet pic or airplane window photos <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/cnnireport\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">\u202a@cnnireport<\/a> wants them! Info here: http:\/\/on.cnn.com\/PlFJzx<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/BlessNDress\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">\u202a@BlessNDress<\/a>\u00a0I&#8217;m sorry to hear you are having trouble. Please follow &amp; DM your info. &amp; additional feedback. I&#8217;ll see if we can help.<\/li>\n<li>Alright, NYC locals &#8230; tourist attractions are great, but what are your favorite hidden gems? What would you do in one day in New York City?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>This engaging Twitter style landed Southwest&#8217;s Twitter feed on <em>Time<\/em> magazine&#8217;s list of Top 10 corporate tweeters.<\/p>\n<h3>3. Chirp 10%.<\/h3>\n<p>In one in 10 tweets, Maiers suggests, go ahead and chit-chat about yourself.<\/p>\n<p>Because the bulk of his tweets <a title=\"Service stories get more followers\" href=\"https:\/\/revvingupreadership.com\/2012\/09\/service-stories-get-more-followers\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">inform instead of meforming<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/zappos\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">the late Zappos CEO Tony Hsei<\/a> can get away with the occasional chirp like this:<\/p>\n<h5 class=\"standalone\"> &#8220;Swam in Silverton mermaid aquarium on my birthday! Wore costume b\/c they don&#8217;t allow birthday suits. <a href=\"http:\/\/twitpic.com\/3fpe9r\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">http:\/\/twitpic.com\/3fpe9r<\/a>\u201d<\/h5>\n<p>Hsei is another honoree on <em>Time<\/em> magazine&#8217;s list of of Top 10 corporate tweeters.<\/p>\n<p>But beware: A little chirping goes a long way.
