Make sure your web heads are short enough to:<\/p>\n<h3>1. Get seen on Google.<\/h3>\n<p>Google\u2019s search results display only the first 63 characters of your headline. To avoid getting your head cut off on Google, keep headlines to 55 characters or fewer<em>.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Remember: Google never bought a product, voted in an election or supported a cause. They want to scan at a glance, not study for a minute.<\/p>\n<p>Plus, long headlines get lost below the fold or take up too much valuable real estate on mobile screens.<\/p>\n[bctt tweet=&#8221;Don&#8217;t get your head cut off: When writing for mobile, keep your headlines short.&#8221;]\n<p>To avoid getting your head cut off, keep your web head to <strong>8 words or fewer<\/strong>, or about <strong>40 characters<\/strong>. That\u2019s the length readers can understand at a glance, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/revvingupreadership.com\/2018\/05\/streamline-sentences-online\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">research by The American Press Institute<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>But online, shorter\u2019s better.
